How To Be Prepared For Your Home Renovations

Educating our customers is crucial to a successful renovation. We hold regular customer education classes and seminars at the Chippewa Valley Homebuilders Association. Having an educated customer eases the burden of having to explain every facet of remodeling and helps them to make informed decisions about the products and services they use in their homes.

Considerations Before Starting A Remodel Project:

Before starting any project, put together a list of items that you would like to change in the renovation. What items do you dislike about your current space? What items or areas do you like? This list will be used to create a scope of work. After you have your list, determine how much money you want to spend on the renovation.

Before you contact a contractor do a little research. Ask friends and family about projects they have done. What did they cost? How long did they take? What did the process look like? These questions will help you form a picture of what to expect when dealing with a contractor.

Once you have the scope of work determined, set up an estimate. At your estimate have your list available to refer to, especially if you are getting multiple estimates. You want each contractor to estimate the same scope of work. That way you’re comparing apples to apples.
